G-10 (group of ten)

This select group of Artists (19 of us now!) meets 'ritually' every Tuesday morning on the waterfront in Crescent Beach, hires a model from 9:30 to 12:30 and we draw from life, starting with ..1 to 2 minutes gestures, 5 and then 10 minute poses, stretching-out into longer poses, half hour and up to one hour. A savoury lunch is enjoyed afterwards in the cozy atmosphere of "The Beecher Street Cafe" where discussions of art fill the air. We do occasional group shows. Members of the group travel together and paint en plein air. It's a connection for us, getting out of the solitude of the studio and meeting with other Artists, but mostly it is 'toning' of the visual skills and keeping them 'in-shape' and the creative juices flowing. It's intense work ... 3 hours pass by quickly, but afterwards, invigorated and inspired, wanting so much to get back into the studio, and as quickly as possible.
